Lesson Policies:

Payment is due in full at the time of the lesson.

Late Policy:  Please arrive on time for your lesson.  Due to an excessive amount of students arriving late for lessons, we have been forced to implement a late policy.  Lessons will be cut short by the amount of time a student arrives late.  Due to an overwhelming request for lessons, we can no longer allow lessons to run beyond their allotted time on the schedule.

Cancellation Policy:  With the exception of emergencies, lessons must be cancelled at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson.  Lessons cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled lesson will have to pay the full price of the lesson.

JoJo

JoJo is a 12 year old Quarter Horse gelding who works in the lesson program at Forest Gate Farm when he isn't off doing trail rides for children in the summer.  JoJo is also about 14.1 hands and is Western trained.  JoJo is one of the smoothest horses you will ever ride!

Meet The horses

Blue

Blue is a 17 year old Blue Roan Quarter Horse who has been owned by Emma since 2009.  Blue is approximately 15.3 hands and is great with kids and beginners.  Blue can be ridden in both the English and Western disciplines and Emma has shown him in both English and Western pleasure as well as competed in Cowboy Mounted Shooting.

Meet the Trainer

Emma Florian

Emma Florian has over 25 years experience working with horses.  She has been riding since she was old enough to walk. Emma started her training focusing on the English discipline and competed during her teenage years in equitation, pleasure and hunter jumper shows.  Ultimately, Emma decided to expand her riding skills and started focusing on the western discipline where she competed in Cowboy Mounted Shooting and barrel racing.  Emma still rides daily and rides both English and Western on a regular basis.  Currently, Emma focuses more on western training and is planning to start learning how to team rope.

Lesson Preparation

All students should arrive for their lesson wearing appropriate attire.  We recommend jeans and boots with a small heal (similar to that of a cowboy boot).  If you do not have a boot with a heal, gym shoes will suffice.

Spring

Spring is an 18 year old Appaloosa mare who joined our lesson program this summer at Forest Gate Farms.  Spring is also about 14 hands and is able to be ridden both English and Western. Spring is one of our best trail horses.

Star

Star is a 30 year old (yes you read that right, she's 30 years young!) sorrel quarter horse mare.  Star is a smaller than Blue, standing around 14 hands.  She is a very patient horse and loves to meet new people and teach them how to ride.  Emma has owned Star since she was 15 years old and grew up riding this horse.  Star also used to be ridden in Cowboy Mounted Shooting with Blue.
